Posted on: November/29/2016

Rockford, Ill. (November 22, 2016) – Rockford Spine Center Surgeons Michael Roh, M.D., and Fred Sweet, M.D., recently attended the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS) Annual Meeting & Course in Prague, Czech Republic.

The annual event attracts more than 1,400 attendees from around the world and is a forum to expand the knowledge and the level of care for all patients with spinal deformities. Presentations at the four-day event are given by leading experts in the field and have value for health care professionals who treat spinal deformities at all levels and in all ages.

Membership in the SRS is an honor in the profession and includes a comprehensive selection process with numerous references and a research requirement. Current membership includes more than 1,000 of the world's leading spine surgeons, researchers, physician assistants and orthotists from 56 countries who are involved in research and treatment of spinal deformities. There are fewer than 500 Active-level members in the United States and Drs. Roh and Sweet are two of only 29 in Illinois.

More than 125 papers were presented at the conference on an array of topics, including adolescent idiopathic scoliosis, growing spine, kyphosis, adult deformity, trauma, neuromuscular scoliosis and tumors. Attendees included elite spine surgeons, residents, fellows, researchers, physician assistants, nurses and other allied health professionals. Attendees discussed leading-edge technology, advanced research in scoliosis and kyphosis and best practices in spinal deformity treatment and care.
